FSUTMS GISonline - Prime Site
FSUTMS GISonline - Personal Sites
Welcome to the beta version of FSUTMS GISonline -- a component of FSUTMSOnline designed to serve as a central location for accessing and sharing GIS data for Florida's transportation modeling community. Developed using ESRI's ArcGIS Server, the system provides access to statewide GIS layers in both the Geodatabase and shapefile format. The system currently provides the following functionalities:

  • zoom-in, zoom-out, pan, and full extent

  • identify features

  • measure distance

  • set layer properties

  • clear layers

  • add labels

  • create thematic maps

  • create charts

  • search features

  • select features by query setup

  • download geodatabase or shape files with automated coordinate transformation

  • view tables

  • convert data from one layer to another (e.g., from Census blockgroup to TAZ)

  • Display Google's satellite images within application

  • Export KML files for Google Earth display

A special feature of the system is that it allows the user to define a local area to create a GIS subsystem on-the-fly from the statewide prime system. The subsystem will possess the same functionalities as the prime system, but will have data for only the selected local area rather than for the entire state. In addition, upon logging into the system, the user will be allowed to perform the following additional tasks:

  • upload local layers in geodatabase or shape files with automated coordinate transformation

  • reorder layers

  • remove layers

  • remove the entire subsystem

To create a subsystem, one must first register by opening the prime system and then going to the "Create Personal Website" window at the lower-left corner of the system interface. Once the user is successfully registered, he/she will receive a password and use it to login to the prime system from the same "Create Personal Website" window to start creating a subsystem. The user will be allowed to specify the desired layers that are available from the prime system to include in the subsystem.

Once the subsystem is successfully created, it will be listed on this page and become accessible to the general users until it is removed by the creator. However, only the creator of the subsystem will be able to make changes to the system, such as uploading a local GIS layer to share with the general users.

Please email Vidya Mysore with your suggestions on how to improve the application. For technical support, please email Albert Gan the developer or call him at 305-348-3116.
