The session format was that of a panel discussion with Central Florida’s regional transportation agencies to hear from these leaders about the role of their agency in the future of transportation, transportation initiatives, legislative priorities and thoughts on transportation funding. The panelists included Hugh Harling, Executive Director of the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council; Gary Huttman, Executive Director of Metroplan Orlando; Georganna Gillette, Executive Director of the Space Coast TPO; Lois Bollenback, Executive Director of the River to Sea TPO; Michael Woods, Executive Director of the Lake Sumter MPO; and Derrick Harris, Executive Director of Ocala Marion TPO.
The panel discussion was facilitated by Christine Kefauver, AICP, who provided a brief background and context for transportation in Central Florida, major transportation and economic trends, as well as major project initiatives. The discussion included policy priorities, SunRail transition, multimodal connectivity in the region, regional priorities, context-sensitive street standards, accommodating non-work trips in the transportation model, mobility as a service, funding, visitors, safety, and automated vehicles.
