Southeast Florida Regional Planning Model, Version 6.5 (SERPM 6.5) Sub Area 24Hr Highway Only Model Update

The main purpose of the sub-area model is to produce 24-hour highway-only model that could be used for the evaluation of site impacts. The sub-area highway-only models options should make it easier to evaluate localized highway projects and to perform impact analyses. Since most computer processing time is in the highway assignment steps, both pre-assignment with feedback loops and final assignment, major changes were made by collapsing trip tables and deleting network centroid connectors outside the area of interest into districts so that the highway assignment process does not have to repeatedly generate paths to and from unused centroids. But to maintain accuracy, the quick running trip generation and distribution steps are applied at the original TAZ level.

To maintain the consistency throughout the region for SERPM 6.5 model users, the structure of the sub-area model was kept identical to the regional model. New sub-applications were added in the process. Many of the existing applications were also modified. The flowchart and scripts are available for review in the model application. The sub-area model does not require transit networks and does not produce transit assignments. In addition, the sub-area model does not produce Managed Lane Highway assignments. For Managed Lane projects or Transit projects model users should utilize SERPM 6.5 Cost Feasible Time of Day Model.
