Accelerating the CAV Industry in Central Florida

Advanced connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technologies can be utilized to achieve precise vehicle trajectory control and render unprecedented opportunities to improve transportation system performance in safety, mobility and sustainability. However, CAV technologies also bring significant challenges to traffic operators and transportation planners in understanding, managing and planning for CAV traffic, particularly when mixed with human driven vehicles. This event will feature presentations on latest research on CAV modeling.

You will also learn about the latest in the CAV industry and what is being done to accelerate implementation of CAV industry in Central Florida. The first part of the event will feature presentations by the following experts. The second part of the event will include a moderated panel by a transportation expert, Dr. Robert Bertini, where you will have the opportunity to learn about what local, regional and national agencies are doing to coordinate and accelerate the growth of the CAV industry. The presenters include:

• Dr. Robert L. Bertini, P.E., Executive Director – Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida
• Dr. Xiaopeng Li, P.E., Associate Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida
• Dr. Amr A. Oloufa, P.E., Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Central Florida
• Josh Pederson, P.E., Project Manager, Florida's Turnpike Enterprise
• Eric Hill, Transportation Systems Management and Operations Director, MetroPlan Orlando
